“If you don’t bring forth what is within you, it will destroy you”
People are afraid to go inward and discover their genius, because they won’t know what they will do with it.
Our zone of genius is such a big part of us, which is why it feels so scary and intimate to release it out to the world. But many of us end up doing only 10% of what we love doing, and the rest is work that drains us.
What if you could tailor your work to do 90% of what you love?
Imagine the amount of energy that would radiate off of you and onto those around you, if you were able to spend the majority of your time doing work that truly makes you come alive and lights you up?
This isn’t just some distant dream or naive thought, this is genuinely possible for you and others.
We spend so much of our bandwidth trying to avoid being vulnerable, it ironically becomes the very thing that makes us vulnerable. We desire financial freedom, but give up our freedom to make money. We want to create a name for ourselves so that we are important, but often give up who we genuinely are in the process.
Moving into your zone of genius (or spiral, because it’s never ending) is about so much more than doing work that makes you come alive. It’s about actually creating the life you have worked so hard for, with more ease and enjoyment. Being in your zone of genius also means the work you do is much more impactful and ripples out into the world in profoundly powerful ways.
Bring forth the power that is within you, and let all of us bask in the beauty of your radiating power and light.
If you find yourself getting trapped in the responsibility and idea of, “How can I do what makes me come alive when I have bills and family to take care of”, then you better listen to this week’s episode to learn how to step out of that space of scarcity and fear, and recognize you can do what makes you come alive AND take care of all your responsibilities.
What makes you come alive creates a lot of energy. That heightened energy is what attracts more energy. This is the energy that now attracts more opportunities, resources, money, time and other beautiful things. Different work feels different. When something drains you, you will not attract the same energy in the way that you do when you’re fired up.
Once you lock in what you love to do, it has a self generating energy. But when you’re just doing things because you’re good at them, it doesn’t fuel you in the same way.
On this episode, we cover:
- What the Upper Limit problem is and why so many of us face it (aka. self-sabotage)
- Doing work that makes you come alive (and how to get there)
- Why being good at something can be a trap that keeps us small
- Zone of Excellence vs Zone of Genius
- Why luck is like the wind, and how you can catch it to help you build your dreams
And here is Gay Hendrick’s latest book: Conscious Luck: Eight Secrets to Intentionally Change Your Fortune
We also talk about his New York Times Best Selling book: The Big Leap, which I highly recommend for everyone to read.
Remember that you’re doing better than you think.
Together we’ve got this.
I believe in you and go do work that makes you come alive!
