When you think about the people you admire, who do you think of?
Why do you admire them? Is it because of what they’ve accomplished, or is it because of how they carry themselves, or how they think?
Admiration can teach us a lot if we get curious about who, what, and why we admire someone or something.
Where we can go wrong though is when we get caught up in wanting to be like someone else in a way that it actually leads us away from who we are and what makes sense for us. Or when we assume others possess what is needed to succeed and we ourselves lack those qualities, skills or abilities and therefore must pretend to be someone we are not.
Admiration should be used more as a reference point, something we look at more in a philosophical way than an actual game plan we rigidly follow step by step.
This week on the podcast I dive into three people I really admire, how I use what I admire about them to inform me about my values and how I use them as inspiration - not replication, for my own goals and dreams.
Janelle Monáe, Brit Marling, and Maggie Rogers. These are people who are creators, artists, entrepreneurial minded people who have created things I feel very inspired by. Not just because of what they’ve created, but HOW they created it and how they maintained alignment to themselves in the process.
If you’re looking to find ways to create your own philosophical road map that you can use to help guide you on your pursuit of creating and building whatever is important to you, check out this week's episode.
As always you’re doing better than you’re giving yourself credit for AND I have a feeling that someone out there would actually be putting you on their of people they admire.
Chat with you next week!
