When I launched my coaching business, I was working my butt off without actually moving forward. Nothing was getting me the results I wanted. I knew how to get random clients here and there, but nothing that would let me leave my day job and solely run my business.
I felt an immense amount of pressure to figure out how to get my business going. I made a site, I started a blog, and I started marketing my business. In other words, I did everything the online experts told me to do. I was working extremely hard, but I still wasn’t seeing results. My business lacked consistency and I was running out of steam.
I began to doubt myself (a lot!). I thought that maybe I just didn’t have it in me to run my own business… that maybe I wasn’t cut out for the world of entrepreneurship. It looked to me as if other people in my field were thriving and so I thought that clearly I was the problem.
I was right. I was the problem. Just not in the way I thought.

I swallowed my “but I can do this on my own, I don’t need any help” pride and took out a loan. I knew that I needed to invest in someone who could get me to where I wanted to be.

When done intentionally, marketing and selling can have the ability to reach people, build community, inspire and empower others, create movements, and positively impact people.
That whole experience made me really see the value in offering business coaching to other entrepreneurs and so I shifted my entire business to this new type of coaching. There is a different way to do business. One that focuses on community and collaboration over competition and sleazy tactics. One that allows us to feel whole and fulfilled, while making all the money we desire. I wanted to be able to help bring this new way of doing business to others.
From all my years in fundraising, and my Bachelors degree in Gender Studies, I knew that more and more studies were showing that when women’s businesses (and any marginalized communities) were invested in, everyone in their communities benefited. Women were more likely to invest in other women, share their prosperity, and invest their money on things that benefit the world outside of just their family. I realized that if I could help other women make more money in their businesses I’d also be able to positively impact the communities they lived in.
My mission in life is to make the world a better place. To help other women build businesses that flourish and in turn not only helping them, but their communities too.

Being a coach, and in my case, early on in business development can be lonely and intimidating. When we first started working together, not knowing what to do in most cases (marketing and sales) was a huge road block for me.
Working with Lana has broken a lot of the walls I had. Not only about the practical and hands on parts of my business, but also about who I am and the person I want to be in and for my business. Lana has helped to (and still does) fine tune the type of work I want to do and the clients I want to work with. She has taught me not to be afraid to go for what I want. That nothing is too big to reach and aspire for.
Lana sees me for who I am and all of the potential that I have. She knows how to show me my strengths, when I have passed them off as weaknesses.
Lana knows me. She knows when I need to have my plan and action steps towards a goal, but she also knows when I need to break away from the busyness of work and focus more on myself. She acknowledges the efforts I put forward and also challenges me when I need that push.
Because Lana is so relatable and super smart, it makes learning from her something I am excited about. Her years of experience leaves me feeling like I am always taking in something new, without feeling intimidated or inferior.
She has been a shoulder when I needed care. She has gone above and beyond to help elevate me and show me just how important I am and the work I am doing.

Working with Lana was unlike anything I could have predicted. For years, I scoffed at the thought of a “coach” and couldn’t justify the expense to have someone tell me how to run my own business. Then I came to an impasse and it was either shit or get off the pot. So I finally bit the bullet and reached out to Lana to get an idea of how this whole “coach” thing worked. She was going to be my deciding factor, I said to myself.
I put the decision on her. And I put trust in her as well. Right away, she was able to tell me what I needed to do to make this work. Not once did she tell me I should give up, instead, she worked with me to pivot my thinking into a new direction. And it’s working. She digs deeper than just business lingo. She hit issues I had been ignoring for years. Limitations I set on myself which inevitably have held me back.
Her woohoo tied in well with my faith in God. Her optimism and encouragement helped me push past my barriers. At one point, we had the A-Ha moment where it all seemed possible and achievable. Since then, I’ve been riding the ‘lana-wave’ and that seed she planted has been growing.
I appreciate her following up and keeping in touch. She doesn’t treat you like a client. She treats you like a friend and genuinely cares about your success and wellbeing. This helps us propel you and continue forward and uphill.
My journey is still going, but it’s one I’m very excited to be on. There’s still some foggy patches and unknown areas, but it’s far more clearer than it’s ever been and I know I have the support needed to push past the scary bits.
Lana’s essence is genuine, encouraging and energetic. All three pertinent factors when influencing others to pursue their dreams and break barriers.

I climbed Mt Fuji solo, at night, because I wanted to watch the sunrise. It was worth it!
I have no shame in admitting that I am a true die hard Taylor Swift fan.
